Shavuot Program and Dinner

Join us for our Shavuot program: a reading and discussion of the Book of Ruth, followed by a light dinner and desserts, including Rhodes-style cheese and potato bourekas.

Shavuot, the second of the three annual pilgrimage festivals, falls seven full weeks after Pesach. It celebrates Matan Torah (the giving of the Torah on Sinai), as well as the early summer grain harvest, and bikurim, the first fruits of the year. The traditional reading for this holiday is the Book of Ruth, which lifts up both the aspects of harvest as well as loyalty to family, tradition, and covenant.
