Adas Yoshuron joins HIAS in marking the Sixth Annual Refugee Shabbat this Friday to express our solidarity with the global Jewish movement for refugee protection and welcome. During the service, we will hear from Chris Myers Asch, co-founder and executive director of the Capital Area New Mainers Project (CANMP), founded in 2017 in Augusta as a cross-cultural organization that welcomes refugees and works to build a thriving, integrated community in central Maine. We will also be joined by AY member Steven Koltai, who serves on the HIAS board. Izzy Kermish-Allen will share about her recent bat mitzvah project creating and selling her artwork as a fundraiser for HIAS. Steven, Chris, and Izzy will be available to answer questions during the oneg.
For the oneg, please bring a dish to share that represents your family's country of origin. We hope to see you for this very special Shabbat!
