Join us for a special program with Harris Gleckman from Documenting Maine Jewry to learn about the history of Jewish-owned businesses in the greater Rockland area over the years. Harris will be sharing about the community-based history project he helped develop to provide information on Jewish citizens of Maine through a state-of-the-art genealogical and historical resource reflecting the traditions of memory, remembrance, and inter-generational learning. In collaboration with several long-time Adas Yoshuron members, including Adele Faber and Barbara FIshman, we will have the opportunity to learn about many of the Jewish-owned Rockland businesses . This will be followed by a short downtown walking tour to see the locations of some of these remembered establishments. All are welcome! There will be refreshments and time for schmoozing.
